Although born in Northern California, Yvette grew up living abroad. Her father’s job provided opportunities and exposure to the world that influences her today. She followed her first passion for Architectural Design by earning her degree in Interior Design at SJSU. Yvette always took an artistic approach to her work through the lost art of hand-drafting.
Today, she finds balance with design and art, creating harmony in her life. She has shown her art in galleries and shows throughout the Bay Area.
ARTIST STATEMENT :
My work reflects the organic lines and textural elements I discover in Nature.
I am drawn to create semi-abstract designs where real objects become slightly distorted or re-imagined in new ways. Naturally, my paintings have a structural style and strong line work, reflecting my background in design.
My current series of work is mostly comprised of botanical imagery. I’m inspired by the little details found in my garden: the unique structure of a stem or branch bending with tiny blooms, or the shapes of flower petals as they unfold and fade. Sometimes it’s the little volunteer sprouting up through the rocks and dirt that catches my eye. I enjoy building upon different organic textures with layers of transparent glazes, watching how the fluid nestles into the cracks and crevices on my canvas.
